SGSIII ROMs Galore! The Flasher's Lounge.

Does this work with with any Rom? (I am new to Kernels)? I have Synergy 1.7.

Also is this essentially flash and go and it tweaks the phone or do I have to open up this program and start adjusting things on my own? Sorry not too familar with how to do Kernels.

Should work with any ICS based ROM. No AOSP support yet (sorry guys PA/CM10 guys :p).

Its all good, always good to ask before you go mess with kernels :p. You can flash it and go or you can tweak it, depending on how much control you want. Myself, I paid for the app a long time ago and still use it on multiple device so its worth the investment. You can however tweak most of the settings with an app like SetCPU if you already have that.

If you don't have SetCPU and you want to try Trinity, I would recommend that you buy the app. Makes downloading kernels easy and you can tweak the hell out of it knowing you are using the app built for the kernel.

Just flashed Trinity over CleanROM 2.1 and it worked fine. Only thing I don't like so far is that you can't underclock it to 192 like CleanKernel. May flash that back depending on battery life.

Thanks.

I am unsure what you mean by buy the app..the link for the Trinity kernetl is just the DL link, nothing to buy unless you mean buy the SetCPU app?

Thanks.

I got the apps mixed up lol. As long as its this one, Trinity Kernel App then your fine. DO NOT download the ones from the app yet, they are T-Mobile or ATT kernels right now. The VZW kernel is not hosted on there yet and will be available soon I am sure. Download the kernel from the XDA thread. I did and and it flashed fine.

Right now, only use the app to change frequencies, governors and schedulers.

OK thanks. So if I download the kernal on xda as is, it does some basic speed enhancements on its own or I have to adjust things as you mentioned.

You might want to tweak it. I had it where on first boot the minimum frequency was 1ghz as oppose to 384mhz. Just set the min to 384 and max to 1.5 or if you want to try for higher. Governor Ondemand and scheduler noop.

Thanks. What is the drawback to this? Shorter battery life?

If you flash the kernel? Usually it will help battery life if you tweak it for that and you can much better performance if you tweak it that way as well.

I had assumed tweaking the phone to perform faster might have a negative impact on the battery but like I said I really do not know much about these kernel things.

Yea the beauty of a kernel is the customization on how you want it to run. If you want to to run for good battery life you can and vice versa. If you need any help getting your kernel set up let me know.

My only problem is finding how to download the kernel. The OP on xda says this:

"Flash the kernel designated for your rom, either CM9 (We'll get to that shortly) or STOCK.

No CM10. When? When they are ready.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First kernel (Alpha2)linked here: http://www.derkernel.com/simms/TGST-STOCK-VZW-ICS-LF2e-LG1-ALPHA2.zip (We will get them integrated on the site soon.)

This is for LF2e, LG1 and boots @ 1728MHz"

I'm on synergy 1.7.
It seems someone downloaded the wrong one but I only see one link to download.

That should be the link.

Flashed the latest paranoid 2.10 update. Running smooth. No problems to report.

I'd like a good aosp kernel if there are any good recommendations out there

If anyone is running Beans, do not flash Trinity kernel yet. I tried it this morning and was getting very odd boot issues. Went to reboot and it just shut down and it would not recognize my external sdCard. Went back and flashed LeanKernel .7 which is the stock kernel for the ROM.

Might give Synergy a go later.

Synergy wasn't bad when I ran it. I'm sure there's been updated releases since then. Beans has a lot more theme based throughout the entire build though. All in all they are the same but different :)

I like Beans just because of the theme really lol. Really tempted to consider PA, but I kinda have a bad taste in my mouth from CM10 and the bad battery life and issue with data service.

Speaking the absolute truth. This ROM has been awesome. If I had any issues I would have reverted back to frank n beans right away. PA is a good choice. Give it a shot. You can always restore.

Science experiment continues, flashing the new CM10 build and hoping that the data issue that I had is fixed. If its still messed up, probably going to give PA a shot.

Hmm, can't get data service on either PA or CM10. Very strange. Edit... needed to reboot PA and it worked.
