OK so I was watching some TV (online) and an old standard song comes on near the end. They were doing a 40's theme during the episode, with Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree at different times.

At the end is a nice ballad, trumpet solo. I recognized it but couldn't remember the name.
(I am a band geek myself, mostly F Horn lately but I did play trumpet in high school).

So I whip out my trusty DroidInc, fire up SoundHound... and nada. Made sure there was no other noise in the room, speakers turned up, mic near the speakers, etc. Tried again, just to make sure. Nothing.
So then I tried Shazam as well. Same thing, no dice.

I finally found out thru some googling and the show's own wiki.
The song is Stardust (by Hoagy Carmichael).

So...
SOUNDHOUND Y U NO
RECOGNIZE CLASSICS
<facepalm>

For those curious now, here is a good rendition of it.
Clifford Brown - "Stardust" - YouTube

addendum- just for kicks I tried this Cliff Brown version, and SoundHound recognized it rather quick, might just be whoever played the version on the TV show played it different enough... ah well anyway.
