I opened my brand new Evo Shift yesterday and activated it. The phone is a piece of ****. The phone literally will not work unless its plugged up to either a computer or the wall charger. Whenever it is unplugged the phone will freeze within 5 minutes and require a hard reset to use again. I have no explanation for it and there does not seem to be anyone on the internet reporting the same problems. Anybody have an idea?

I updated the frimware/PRL/Profile and still the same problems.

Take it back...definitely should not do that. Sorry to hear about that!

Hi, newshift.
Welcome to the forum. Wow, unfortunately ... hiccups like those sometimes happen.

That's a good phone and it might just be one of those mishaps happening with the device. Since it's new you could do a ""Reset" of the device before doing anything else(That's the first thing Sprint will instruct you to do).

*Note*
When first use any device it's recommended to charge the battery for at least 4 to 6 hrs before using. Or keep the device charging while using.

Best of luck.

I had some issues with bad lag with my first Shift. Exchanged it and haven't had a problem since

do a factory reset like some say and to say a phone is a piece of **** just because you may have got a defected phone is pretty immature

Yeah, take it back. Why bother trouble shooting something that is mere hours old that is an obvious defect.

Sounds to me like you got a bad shift just take it back and get a new one. I am on my 2nd shift my first one was defective it can happen to anyone.

Newshift your phone may be defective and u should take it to bestbuy they have really good customer service cuz i just got the shift and it only freezed up like once or twice and that was because i had like 50 apps running in the background
