Shortcomings of Sense UI/HTC apps

Greetings, after having heavily used Eris for a week here are my Sense UI/HTC apps pet peeves (probably not present in Moto Droid - if someone would confirm it would be great):

- time stamp missing if it's not today (e.g., SMS from yesterday or before don't show what *time* they were received or sent, same for info on when last mail was last sync yesterday ....). The system keeps this info, why not display it? This would be useful information to have.

- No weekly calendar view - what were they thinking?? (The day view looks so cool - but not useful to me - I can just imagine what a nice job they would have done for a weekly view.

This is more a wishlist item, not a gripe :)

- It would be nice to have the screen blank time separately from the phone lock feature

On the Droid, the messaging app does not show the time stamp after the first day as well. However, we do have a weekly calendar. It's beautiful.

To Esmail: download Handcent SMS. Highly customizable app where you can see the date/time stamp for all messages are shown. You just have to enable the feature. Be sure to disable the notification for the native sms for the HTC Droid Eris

X2.. This is a great app to have for sms/ mms:D

How do you disable the notification to the native sms? I downloaded Handcent and absolutely love it. It looks better then the BBM that I used on my Storm

Props on Handscent, I use it over the default messages app.

To disable OEM message notifications do the following:

open Messages app

Menu > Settings
uncheck everything

no more default message notifications

If you want to disable the trackball for the default notifications:

Settings app >Sound & Display > Notification flash
uncheck SMS/MMS

Handscent has its own trackball notification setting thats automatically on by default.
done.

Handcent FTW! I emailed them about a small bug I found and they responded that same day. I'm surprised this app is still free.
