Shortcut to Market no longer works

Big surprise...now that the Google Market has rebranded itself to Play Store, the shortcut in the app drawer no longer works to take me to "the market".

It's basically a dead shortcut.

Just want to make sure it's not just me.

That's weird, mine just updated but I don't have that problem at all. Maybe try a reboot, or soft reset ("battery pull").

I clicked on my Market shortcut, it brought me to the 'Introducing Google Play' page, then brought me to the market. Went back to home screen and the shortcut was gone, so just had to put in the Google Play shortcut in its place.

Is the shortcut on your homescreen gone, or is it the actual icon in the app drawer that's gone. If it's the app drawer have you tried looking for "Play Store" the name changed so it won't be in the same location as "Market". If it's the home screen, you just need to add it again. If you've done this then I don't know what else is the problem, this is the first I've heard, maybe somebody else can chime in.

Yeah Market icon should disappear and Google Play should appear.

It's the app drawer shortcut at the very top of the page...so when you go into the app drawer on the top left is a shortcut to "All Apps" (or you can select that and choose which group you want to see) and on the top right is the shortcut to the market. These 2 shortcuts are above all the application shortcuts and are on every single page in the app drawer.

I have an actual app button for Google Play and it takes me to the market, but that shortcut at the top of the screen will not work for me. Says the application isn't installed, but it clearly is. I've tried reboot and soft reset and still can't get it to work.

ha, so you're right, mine doesn't work anymore either. I never used it before, but I assume it'll be taken care of in the next update once Moto has a chance to fix it.

O.k. so I'm not alone. I'm actually relieved...but bummed it isn't working because I use it ALL the time. Saved me having to create a shortcut on a home screen.

Just put the new "Play Store" app on your home screen.

I don't want it on my homescreen...my homescreen is taken by other apps. I liked having the shortcut already there for me...but hopefully it'll get updated soon.

This morning when I clicked on Android Market, I was brought to the Google Play disclaimer, then I was able to get the update, and the icon on my home page disappeared...but in APPs, you will find an icon for "Play Store." You should then be able to re-place an icon on your home screen again.

I really miss the little green android.....

I just tried mine and it stills works the same as always. Not updated and takes me right to the market. Maybe a roll out is in progress. I'm in Oregon if it matters.
EDIT: Just tried the link on my pc and it has changed to "google play" and is not the old market.

He's talking about the shortcut in APPs at the top right (the white shopping bag), it used to take you straight to the market, but now for some it isn't.

Clearly Google replacing the Market app broke this shortcut in MotoBlur. Personally, I have only click it by accident anyway so it won't be a huge issue for me to wait until Motorola can release an update addressing it.

Read thru that article for fixes. One worked for me. I no longer have Play Store icon on my phone, but my Market link at the top of the app drawer works now.
