shorted charging port

Plugged my phone in earlier using the supplied HTC charger and cable. I got a message saying to use the correct charger. I unplugged it, blew into the port and plugged it back in. Everything looked good. Came back an hour later to find the phone wasn't charging and the device reeked of burnt metal. Verizon warrantied it out on the spot and gave me an in store replacement. So heads up for anyone that gets the same message.
