Should I Buy a Note 20 Ultra or S21 Series?

It's time to upgrade from my trusty S9+. My husband just got a new unlocked Note 20 Ultra about a month ago and loves it. He's always liked Notes because of the S pen but I've always just had the flagship S phones.

Any thoughts? I'd also like to maximize trade-in but figure Note prices might drop when the S21 is released. Flip side is that S21 would be newest technology and probably will have typical add on perks to sweeten purchase.

All I can say is my note 20 has been the best device to date coming from someone that has the first Blackberry. It's been flawless to date and a keeper for me.
Where every other device I have owned had flaws this device has none!!

I love my Note 20 Ultra, I need the S-Pen, I love everything about the device.
Installing Android 11 scared the snot out of me, but once I got it going, it's really quite the work horse. I'm hoping to keep it for a couple years so I won't have to worry about the new crops of devices until Samsung figures it all out.

I bought the Note 20 Ultra after coming from the s9+. I really have enjoyed the Note. It's a great device & I plan on keeping it for a few years. So glad I passed on the s20.

It appears that the s21 & Note 20 lines are only going to be 5 months apart, so I wouldn't expect the changes to be earth shattering. The Note 20 line has definitely exceeded my expectations & is a proven stable device.

It's always seems tough to decide between devices, but at least you can test things out on your Husbands Note 20 Ultra & get a feel for it. Good luck in your decision, maybe I'll see you as a regular in the Note 20 forums soon.

:)

Seems from s9+ you probably like the s21 next , how do you feel about the Note 20 boxy design ?

This is a good question. For me the squared screen corners comes first, the S Pen second in terms of why I prefer the Note. If neither of those matter to you I would go for the S21.

I like the squared screen, the S-pen and even if u don't use it it's tucked away and doesn't interfere.

Definitely wait and when the s21 is available then pop into your most local store that has working retail demo models to get a feel of both i.e aesthetics as well as features and functions and software.

The S21 registration screen just popped up. Sometimes you get the best trade-in deals if you pre-register...Can always pre-register, doesn't commit you. From reading fine print looks like will be released 1/28 with orders going live 1/14.

I heard no SD card on either phone, S21 or S21+. That would be a no for me but I am very happy with my Note 20 Ultra. I do like the 10X optical zoom though.

The N20U byfar is one of the best top 3 flagships this year. It's for amazing features that other devices cannot even come close. You'll be smitten.Truly.

I'm looking to upgrade. But not trying to get the newest phone since I get my unlocked.
I hate the punch hole camera design.

Newer iterations don't necessarily mean that they will perform faster or better than last year's iterations! Maybe try your husband's Note phone to see how you like it, and go from there?

Plus, if you go for last year's phone, you'll get practically the same device for a more economical price.

Please let us know what you decide! :)

I prefer to get the last yrs model at a good price.

Right now I am heavily leaning toward the Note 20 Ultra. I did preregister for the S21 on Samsung and will check it out before deciding. I have never had a S pen but after playing around with my husband's phone I am loving it.

Even if the S21U has S pen capability, not being built into the phone and relying on a case is a recipe for disaster...think back to old days when we carried fancy checkbook cases wirh a pkace for the pen...they were always slipping out and hitting the ground.

At any rate I will make a decision after the Jan 14 launch.

Thanks for your input.
