Should I buy my tablet through Verizon?

Looking to buy a 10'' tablet. A Samsung Note 10.1 most likely

This is a dumb question probably... I don't plan on using mobile data with my tablet as I have a Note 3 w/4 GB monthly (old plan, no data sharing) but I'd like to keep my options open and the device is a big enough purchase that if I feel like if a year down the road I want to redo my contract, I'd like to have that option available.

Am I fine just picking up any old 10.1 and can get it running on Verizon's network later or do I specifically need one with the Verizon logo slapped on the back? How much stuff do the carriers add to tablets?

You could just buy a good 10'' tablet like the Note 10.1 or Nexus 10 without a Verizon contract. Set up Wi-Fi and Google and it's ready to go.

I agree look into the Nexus 10 if want the big screen. If want to lower the cost and still get quality look into the Nexus 7. I am by far happier with my Nexus 7 and using a Jetpack when traveling than using a tablet I bought and hooked through VZW. Research all your options. Reminder if you buy tablet through Verizon you have 2 year contract a $10 monthly fee plus extra data when not on Wifi.

I actually already have a 2012 Nexus 7. VZW doesn't actually have the version of the Note 10.1 I want (white 32gb) but I was wondering if I would be better off buying from them if I plan to get mobile data on it or if it even mattered.

I bought our tablets used on eBay and swappa.com. Mine is the Note 10 hubby's the Tab. No contracts to deal with. :)
