Should I develop successful features of my current app into independent apps?

Hi everyone,

I made a speed reading coach app that consists of multiple drills and noticed that most of the use traffic is directed to a one specific drill, since it relatively very popular I thought about creating another app with that drill only. I however fear that it will direct current and future traffic from my original app.

Has anyone done this before? Should I go forward with this or not?

This is my app on Google Play

Thanks

Four considerations:

Are the other features of the app "getting in the way" for the users flocking to that specific drill?

If you got the word out to the flockers, and they all switched to the new app, are there enough users to warrant supporting both apps?

Assuming that it's literally the interface, etc and specific pieces... does that make dual upgrade paths easy enough to where that's not undue burden?

Would it make more sense to instead make minor changes at first to enhance focus on that drill and over time remove unused features to make way for a better experience surrounding the popular uses?

I spent the last 5 days thinking about the considerations you provided and decided to stick with the original app.

You made it much easier for me to make an informed decision on this, thank you :)
