Found a Captivate on Craigslist for $175. I currently have the iPhone 3G, but want to move up to an Android device and am currently off-contract with AT&T and want to keep it that way for as long as possible until some great phone sweeps me off my feet. Would you make the move for this phone? Would it be able to 'Captivate' me for six months or so?

At least 6 months. That is a good price to get in on this phone and see what things are about. You will love the screen, and there are a good number of custom options available if you want to go that route. It will likely make you want to get the SGS 2 when it is released, but that is for the good as well.

if your on iphone 3g, moving up to a captivate would be a huge improvement. I definately don't think you'll regret the decision.

The new data plans are not unlimited flat rates. Will he go to a plan with limited data per month?

Ah, forgot about unlimited data. It should be grandfathered, but it might take some arguing to keep it.

Realy wont hurt to give android a try. Then u can figure out whether to grab a better on or whatever 4g iphone comes out next ....

Is377 is correct. As long as you had unlimited data before the switch to the tiered plans your data is transferrable to normal unlimited data instead of unlimited iPhone data.

I upgraded in February from my 3GS to my Inspire and they were able to transfer the data plan. I would make sure to either go to a Corporate store or call their customer service. There were alot of reports when the Inspire came out of people getting their phones through authroized retailers and places like wal-mart and costco and the reps there not being able to transfer the unlimited data plan.
