So,

I was thinking on buying a tablet for reading, browsing, emails etc (not much of a player) and I wonder if 7" is enough, if it's convenient for reading and if it doesn't feel like a big phone in your hands.

I also read that the first generation had tons of problems after a few months of use, there is also comments for bugs in the newer version which I'm concerned about.

I don't need LTE, I'm going to use it mainly at home\office.

btw, what are the real battery life?

I'm also thinking about the new chromecast ;) I'm not from the USA and I have relatives there now so I need to think and act fast :)

Do I need a screen protector? cover?

Thanks!

I am buying the new N7 in 4 hours. I have the old one and never had problems with it other than the stock charger, which was fairly easy to replace. A screen protector is a good idea, especially if you plan to do a lot of reading. A scratch mid page on every page would be infuriating.

If that is all you want it for I'll sell you my Nook Color with JB on it. ;)

I have the HTC One, it's almost 5". there's that a big difference with 7"? why don't they have a 8" option too :(

I had the first Nexus 7 and it was merely ok. I just wasn't happy with the washed out display, lack of tablet specific apps, and general lack of responsiveness after a break in period. Got an iPad Mini and have been extremely happy with it. Until yesterday. The build quality is much improved, it's slim, the display just obliterates the Mini's. The app experience is vastly better than it was 6 months ago and with the upgraded processor I can see just how slow my Mini is. I am very happy with this new Nexus. Reading on it is a blast!
