Should I get the Nexus S 4G or EVO 4G?

Hi, I currently have a Samsung Moment, which to be honest is a crap, so either would be an upgrade.
I'm more inclined to go with the EVO, because of the slightly bigger screen, better cameras, and external memory, also, because it's supposed to be a reliable phone. But with it being near EOL, I'm thinking I should go with a different phone (because I have no experience rooting phones and stuff like that to keep to Evo up to date). Is the Nexus S 4G near EOL as well? Would it be better for me to just go with EVO?

Also, would storage be a big problem with the Nexus if I wanted to use it as an MP3 player? I don't have a huge music collection, but do the apps and other things on the phone eat away quickly at the limited storage?

May i ask why your looking to waste a 2 year upgrade with such old phones?

obviously the nexus is way better than the evo 4g.
but you will never ever run out of roms to flash with the evo 4g,
the nexus is faster, bloatware free, has a much much better screen and will always be up to date(currently at 2.3.7)

the nexus has 16gb on board, so with some songs and apps i dont think u would even begin to touch the surface of the memory on board.

personally id look to another newer phone (depending on your cash situation), if you cant afford it, the nexus s4g is free at best buy with 2 year, its a great deal for a awesome phone thats fast, clean and always up to date.
plus the screen is great.

the nexus is a single core phone and its basically just as fast as the evo 3d dual core.

the evo is just old, and id recommend getting one used off craigslist. ive seen them for 100-150 already.

the nexus s are still going for 200-325 on craigslist.

The nexus s is guaranteed to have the latest android updates from google
and as for a music player try out google music beta it hold all your music collection online from your pc so your able to stream all you want and even store songs you want available instantly offline
honestly the 16gb isn't really a problem for me i actually cant find enough things to fill up my drive with

I'm getting a two year contract. I've been with Sprint for about a year, not impressed with the service in my area, so I plan to switch at the end of my contract. But considering my current phone is becoming more crappier by the day (it likes to turn off and take 45 minutes to turn back on), I need a replacement ASAP. I'm not really bothered by the fact that these phones are older, they're coming down in price and in the case of the Nexus, are still being updated. And like you said, I can get them used for like $200. If you have a better suggestion for the same price range, I'd love to hear.

Maybe I should've specified, I'm not upgrading my phone, because I don't want another 2 year contract with Sprint. I'm paying for a phone out of pocket and I definitely don't want to spend $600 on one of the newer phones, when they'll be obsolete in like a year.

The NS4G is head and shoulders above the EVO. None of the dual core phones that have come out have even tempted me yet. You only see them outperform the Nexus when running two data intensive apps simultaneously. Under normal conditions the NS4G is just as fast as anything out there.

I did the same thing.. I'm bought the nexus s for 220 in great condition ffrom Craig's list. If u do get one from another person I.e. Craig's list and eBay make sure you getbthe phone in person at the sprint store so the phone can be activated.

i did the sam exact thing.bought my nexus s for 200 off craigsli0st and it was a week old.definetly worth it.like a couple others have said, the nexus is just as fast as any of the newer ones. and if battery life is important to you id suggest nexus,mine has been up for 10hours and 20minutes and its still has 55 percent(have been messaging,surfing the web,streaming pandora,and listening to music via the music app) and its stock because im not too rooting inclined either lol. IMO the nexus has a far better camera,screen and battery life so definetly worth the buy. and 10+ gbs of storage is plenty for music imo. hope this helps

Nexus S 4G over Evo for sure. There is nothing wrong with not wanting to spend $200. The Nexus One is on 2.3.6, so the Nexus S will be sure to get further updates. The Evo is done at gingerbread (officially).

I got my Nexus S 4G back when it first came out on Sprint and I'd do the same today. But I also don't wait till full upgrades usually.

If you can afford to wait about a month or two to upgrade, you should do that. But if you have to do it now, definitely go with the Nexus. I had problems with my EVO boot cycling before I just traded in and got the Nexus.

Plus Sense is crap.

(On my 3rd Fascinate since March) I am not going to root it or anthing to that extent. Vanilla Android and Sense are both fine with me. I use LauncherPro on my Fascinate, hate Touchwiz. I've been reading about both phone all week long. My biggest concerns are the Nexus S reception issues and updates. I know the Evo is pretty much done with being updated and the Nexus S will be supported a good while. I need an honest unbiased opinion on the reception. Thanks in advance.

If you're fine with either Sense or vanilla, then get the Nexus. Half the price, better screen, much better battery life, more storage, latest Android updates, and runs smoother. I haven't heard customers complaining of reception issues ever since they pushed out the fix.
