Should I get the Oneplus 5

My upgrade is July 2018, I won't be able to afford the newer phones so I'll need to buy a 2017 flagship instead. The phone will be on a 2 year contract so it'll be from 2018-2020. But I've got one main concern...

With many phones coming out with bezel-less designs, I don't want it to look outdated during my 2 years with it, so this is my main concern. I'm REALLY adamant about getting a stock android phone as they're so reliable with speed, updates etc. My other alternative would be the essential phone, but I've heard it has a lackluster camera. In truth all I need is a point and shoot camera. I don't use any modes etc in the app.

So what do you guys think? Both phones will be cheaper by July 2018 too, I'm thinking of the regular Pixel 2 once it's out but recent leaks show massive bezels and the screen is a tad small for me. I'd perhaps consider a HTC U11 but again I'm undecided.

Definitely not. 2 months ago? Contender. Next year, probably not in the top 20. If cost is the largest factor, grab LG's next flagship, they are typically on sale for $200-300 off very early in the game.

I second the LG statement. Their flagships are normally really good at being reasonably priced. Or their previous iteration will be at a rockin' deal by then! The OP5 is great but I wouldn't recommend it as a viable 2018 contender based on current flagships/mid-range phones available - maybe even see what OnePlus does in 2018!

I use a OnePlus 5 and it is ABSOLUTELY GREAT. it's future proof because of the 8gb of RAM that it has..... I am a phone addict and have every phone. I can definitely recommend the phone despite other comments

Well, the OP was definitely interested in flagships but only wants to consider the midrange OP5 because of the price tag. So if there are actual flagships that will be comparable in price, they're also going to be just as "future proof", etc.

I love my OP5. I'm a photographer and I think the camera options and functionalities are top notch. For the price, you get a lot. The design is sleek and nice. For me it's been a great buy.
