Giving serious thought to upgrading to a Note 5.
I currently use a Moto X (2014) on Verizon.
My primary concern is the ability to use a device this size with one hand. I am able to use my Moto X with one hand while walking the dog (a twice a day, 30 minute event). While it is a bit of a stretch, I can text, email, call and browse apps with just one free hand.
Am I kidding myself that I will be able to use it with only one free hand?
Also, any other thoughts/suggestions/advice on whether or not to make this change?
Thanks in advance!

The note 5 is a pretty easy one hand device. I have probably average sized hands but don't have problems. Also there is an one handed mode that shrinks the screen so it is smaller and easier to use one handed.

The note 5 design is excellent! They kept the 5.7 screen size but the phone is actually smaller than the previous versions also the back is curved for easier grip.

I have an LG G3, but i'm seriously considering the Note 5. It really looks like a quality piece of equipment.:p

The days of using cell phone with one hand are coming to an end. But you can by the Flygrip or other accessories that help you keep a grip on it. The Flygrip also doubles as a stand. I've used it on 3 previous Note phone's and I love it.

I'd say go to your local store and hold it. The phone feels smaller than you think due to the curved back sides.

I always use cases with kickstands.

In addition to them being good for watching videos, they are also good for using such a large device one handed.

But, with a kick stand, can you fit the phone into a pants pocket?

I have never been one to want to keep something as large as a smartphone in my pocket, but the kickstands all fold flat, so I assume the answer is yes.

I'm using a case right now that is so thin my brother didn't know I had a case on it.

I do like the feel of the Note 5. My last two phones were made by LG, but the new V10 is just too long and thin. It feels flimsy to me, and easy to drop. What i would like to get a clear understanding about is the bad news regarding the s-pen. What's the problem with the pen, and should i wait until they exchange those plastic ones for metal ones? Thanks for any help with this.:p

I believe the note 5 is by far the easiest "Phablet" to hold and use. And if you are right handed the capacitive back button is in the lower right corner where it is very easy to use with your right thumb.

Bad news regarding the S pen? Some people have put them into their phones backwards. When that happens they get stuck, caught on the pen detection mechanism. Pull it out forcefully and you break the pen detection mechanism. Some people have had the upper part separate from the pen shaft. And some others have had the clicker mechanism on the top break. Like any mass produced product there will be some bad ones. I've had none of these issues and none of these issues seem wide spread affecting vast amounts of Note 5 phones. I wouldn't base my decision on whether to get the Note 5 or not on these reports. I make sure I don't put my pen in backwards and if it breaks or I break it, I'll buy a replacement pen. It's a great phone, if you like it get. Don't worry too much about this.

Thanks for the feedback. I believe that you're right about the s-pen. I've held the Note 5, and actually had the sales rep send an email and a text to the phone, just so i could see the unread msg count on each app. True, the sales rep was my son's college roommate, but i like to think that he would have done that for anyone. HaHa. My target date for the Note 5 is the new year. I'm on AT&T's Next Plan, and the last payment on my LG G3 is in Dec. I'll be back to this forum for sure. Thanks again.:p
P.S. If Samsung makes a Note 6, i'll bet it will be metal.:p

It's fairly easy one handed. I use voice text often esp when walking our two huskies. Also helps having a good grip type case. Also it does have a mode for one handed use where it shrinks down part of the screen though I never use it . Well the Note 3 had that option I assume this new beast note 5 does too

Two Huskies? Now that's a handful. I only walk an older Golden Retriever. But, with my Moto X (2014) , I can dial, text and browse apps with one hand. I'd hate to give that up, but really like the Note 5 and hope I am not kidding myself by thinking I can use it with one hand....

If I can walk two huskies and use it one handed you can with the one dog :)
