Should I root or unlock my HTC One S?

Unless there is something you absolutely want to do that requires rooting the device, I'd advice against it. It becomes a security precaution by allowing things to run with "higher" access. This can lead to applications looking at things it shouldn't be, and can be completely unrelated to a virus or malware (such as people spying on you without your knowledge).
