Should I send it back straight away?

It hasn't arrived yet, it was despatched yesterday, but the reviews are really worrying. (obviously the Verge haven't done a real review)

I have a Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and an iPad 4.

I dislike iOS. I've fallen out of love with it since moving my phone to Android. So the iPad 4 does nothing most of the time. This is the reason a 'review' like the one on iVerge is useless to me because I don't care if the iPad is lighter, I don't care if the iPad knows what my finger looks like. It's iOS.

So anyway, I hope you get my over emphasised point - I want a large Nexus tablet.

Here's the bind. It's for Christmas. I'm not supposed to open it yet. But what if I want to send it back? I won't be able to in December.

What bothers me most about the reviews/comments is the lag mentioned and the concern that the dual core processor is not suited. I can't have my year old phone more responsive than a brand new £400.00 tablet.

All wobbly lipped now. Was so looking forward to this thing.

"iVerge"... Hahaha!! But about your dilemma... Could you get or warranty for it or something? I've only read the Engadget review so far but it doesn't sound that bad. I'm gonna try it out. I'm sure its gonna be great... Alternatively, why not open it early in the name of beta testing it... Lol.

I don't have as much perspective as a lot of people. This is only the third tablet that I've owned and the last one (Note 10.1) is over two years old. I have never owned an Apple device and have absolutely no interest in ever owning one.

That being said, I absolutely friggin LOVE this thing! Beautiful screen, buttery smooth performance, aspect ratio is great! I am totally sold!

My only concern is that it seems to be chewing through the battery pretty quickly. I'll give it another couple of cycles and if it doesn't get better I'll trade it in for another unit.

I'm gonna go with Quad on the beta testing thing. Just give it a go for a couple of days and if you're that committed to the whole Christmas gift thing just put it back under the tree (good luck with that BTW). 😂

I've experienced no lag at all on mine, real world performance wise, it feels very similar to my Nexus 5.

Build wise, also no issues, feels solid and very well built, nice speakers too. ☺

Second this. As far as I'm concerned, the N9 is a giant Nexus 5; it feels like one, it runs like one. The only parts I'm not happy with so far are the buttons. I don't know why they couldn't have used the clicky, ceramic ones from the N5. Small beer though, this tablet is immense.

Thanks guys, I've been given permission to have it early. (grinning as I type this).

Can't get it from depot until tomorrow though due to a logistical screw up.

I'll just read more reviews this evening and contain my fury about the HTC 'hot deal' mentioned on the AC homepage.
