I have an offer from my carrier to swap for free but I'm not sure if I want to. I have an extra battery and a few cases so I'm having troubke justifying it. What do you guys think? Owners of the Note edge please chime in.

Peace Out

I upgraded to the Note Edge in February. I am now deeply looking into upgrading again to the Note 5. My Edge has been continuously lagging after updating the OS from Kit Kat to 5.0.1 and I'm still waiting for ANY update to fix this. This sole issue has made me want to throw my Edge into the Puget Sound. :'(

I guess it depends whether you aren't satisfied by your S5 anymore or you'd simply like a larger screened phone. What do you expect from making the switch?
Personally I now own the Edge for about a month and I am overall satisfied with it. I can't really complain about any unusual lags and battery life seems to be what one can expect of a 5.6" screen phone with just a mediocre 3000mAH battery.

What I am not satisfied with is the general lack of updates. I own the unlocked European edition, no 5.1 so far, no Stagefright fix and no announcements when any of those land. But I guess you should be familiar with this as an S5 owner :/

Edit: Forgot to mention I accidently did the Lollipop upgrade and really expected worth. Performance seems to be a tad better and even battery live seems to have improved, at least during standby. What I don't like is the screwed up notifications system. With Kitkat a message notification only appeared on the edge screen, with Lollipop you now get that toast message as well es the info on your edge screen. Haven't found abway yet to disable those toast notifications.

I'm using a Note Edge on 4.4.4, and I would recommend this phone to anyone. However, it depends on what you're looking for, or how you're going to justify the change from the S5 to the Edge. I would do it over and over. I'm tempted to use one of my upgrades to get a second one.

I switched from the GS 5 about 1 month ago. I wanted a larger screen and the S pen. I sold my S5 and also had xtra battery and cases. I do miss the water and dust resistance features. But I would No way want to go back.

I had the same experience as you, and many others, after the update.

Although I didn't believe it at first, I took the recommendation of the representative at the Samsung Experience shop and did a complete factory reset.

Now the lag, abysmal battery performance, and general fustration with the phone is done away with.

If you can bring yourself to do it I'm sure you too will experience a noticeable improvement.
