Should I upgrade OTA then root?

Just got the optimus (coming from HERO). Should I go ahead and install new upgrade then root?

I rooted my phone and then installed a rom without updating it. Are there any updates and how would I go about updating it now that it's already rooted? I have z4root.

Only one way to properly downgrade so you can accept the OTA v9 and have the new baseband update:
