I'm attempting to try verizon cloud for the first time and it says it will take over a full day to backup my photos. is there a better alternative? will the cloud kill my battery.

please help

Consider using Google Drive, Dropbox or similar cloud services. That way you're not locked into Verizon as your service provider.

I use OneDrive too as well as google photos. Neither will run down your battery during regular backups but if your initial backup will take a full day then you might want to be plugged in to a power source, or leave it to back up while you're sleeping-on a charge.

I used to use Verizon cloud but they only give you a very small amount of storage. They try to make you pay a fee for more storage. One drive and Google Drive as mentioned are great alternatives. You can have the settings to back up your files only when connected to WiFi or set up when you want to back up during the day (I.E morning or evening). I think one drive let's you keep the quality of your photos too so you don't get lower quality photos when you download them
