Should I wait for a price drop ?

After recently purchasing the G2 I've strongly been considering the G Pad as a replacement for my laggy 2012 Nexus 7. The HP Slate 8 Pro and Nexus 7 2013 LTE are also in the final running. I can't decide which, but earlier today my tablet screen turned off due to my short screen timer. I tried double tapping the screen to turn it on. It's little features like Knock On which make other OEM tablets more appealing than Nexus 7. Updates, when they come are cool, but they certainly don't have any fun hardware/software features like other OEMs.

I'm still slightly torn, but I think the G Pad is in the lead. It shouldn't matter because I rarely game, but I know the Tegra 4 is a better processor than the Snapdragon 600. Had they put a Snapdragon 800 I wouldn't be as torn.

Then there's the cool stylus function of the HP which is tightly coupled to the Tegra 4. You might think Samsung is for me, but for personal reasons I don't feel like supporting their company anymore.

I've had a GREAT experience with the G Pad. No issues whatsoever. Just great performance and high build quality and a devastatingly gorgeous screen. A highly recommended piece of kit.

Are the Nexus 7 touchscreen performance issues resolved with 4.4? That is what really soiled the deal for me...and I tried a total of 5 devices, all with the same touchscreen non-responsiveness.

Yeah my nexus 7 is like a new tablet, this is my 3rd and was going back to Asus the day 4.4 came out, and it fixed everything, the N7 for me blows the G Pad away now it works

Hmmm...If I decide I really need an LTE tablet I may try it again. Sixth time is a charm...right? Right? ...but you'll pry my G Pad from my cold...dead...rotting...fingers.

lol. I considered the LTE nexus 7 (2013) for personal use because it comes with a $100 off bill credit if you activate it for AT&T. Still thinking about it but i dont mind tethering the G Pad to my LG OG. Doesnt use up that much battery anyways. Although $250 for the LTE N7 is tempting...

I'll have to check that deal out. ...because it would be going on my existing AT&T tablet line.

I see this argument every once in a while and just reply with... The Galaxy S 3 released 80 bajillion handsets with an S4 processor (successor to the 600) pretty much all of which are still on a 2 year contract. Don't for one second think that 99% of the games released in the next year or two aren't going to run just fine on devices with that chipset.

How many GS4's have been sold with a 600 processor?

I don't know if it's the Tegra line in general, or if it was just the 3, but I my Asus Infinity Pad was laggy as well. My wife's Acer A100 with the Tegra 2 seems alright even though it's still only a dual-core, so maybe it was just the 3, but I decided to stay away from Asus and nVidia for this round and so far I'm not regretting it.

Yup, before 4.4 it was a lag infested mess with unresponsive touches and freezes, now its super smooth, no lag, very responsive, you would have thought id swapped the tablet out for another one, its night and day, im presuming new firmware came with 4.4

From what i have read over time its not the T3 that is the issue, its the disgustingly cheap nand that Asus used in their devices, i had the N7 2012 and when it got within 2gb of being full it would lag terrible, delete some stuff off there and it was fine, its was across the Asus line of T3 devices

I had the 32GB Infinity Pad and it was never even remotely close to full and it wasn't always laggy, just the Asus launcher and web browsing (stock and Chrome). I put a 3rd party launcher on it and that helped a bit, but not with web browsing. I sold it on eBay after I got my G Pad so I don't really care anymore.

Leave it to Asus to try to cheap out instead of putting good, solid hardware in there. If Apple, LG, and Samsung can handle it why can't Asus?

Although part of that may have been the fact that the Infinity was released right on the cusp of when everyone started putting 2GB of RAM in devices.

For anyone that cares, NewEgg is listing the white version for $329 today. I finally decided to pull the trigger even though I really like the price and features of the Nvidia Note 7 with Tegra 4 at $199. At $329 with no tax and free shipping, it's a great deal. NewEgg is also offering the Nexus 7 32 GB 2013 for a discount as well: $239.

Will Best Buy match this price? I'd really like the option of buying it locally, in case I would need to exchange it (blue line issue, Heaven forbid)

I had two from Best Buy with the blue line I am wondering if under the right condition they may all have this problem? My 2nd one did not show the line until two weeks in and it only shows up when I use the video app to watch a movie after about 20 minutes of playing the movie it shows up. I have not seen the blue line during any other use and it goes away after putting the tablet to sleep for a few minutes.
