I just came from owning a storm one for two years and decided to go with a droid this time, my upgrade date was last week.
I was just wondering how many of you guys came from a blackberry and now have a android powered phone.
Do you like it or do you hate it, what do you like about it or what do you hate about it?
So far im in love with this phone, i have noticed things i miss from BB.
Just wondering what you guys thought.

I did . There is a learning curve. Make sure yup read the manual to see how powerful e os is. Try app organizer which let's you put multiple programs in a folder and assign nice icons. There is too much to go into about how much more powerful android is. Say goodbye to the hour glass and need to reboot often. Email and texting takes a bit to get used to coming from the berry. If your phone has swype use it! There is a great tutorial on e phone and online. Which one did yup get?

Love it. About the only thing I miss from BB is BBM. But I talked my wife, who still has a BB, to use google talk. Since I already used gmail, etc. it made a lot of what I already did seamless. Plus Touchdown helps if you have an Exchange acct. A lot of versatility with the device.

I had the storm 1, then the storm 2, got both on launch date, now have the x.. The storm is good for what it does, but the x is good for most things. Email is not as good, butoverall, the x has itbeat.

Sadly I come from a generation where almost everybody cept the guy with the work phone has an Iphone. This made my transition from the S1 to the Dx even easier. I didn't miss BBM. Threaded SMS though really was the only reason I liked BBM, but the 5.0 update and the DX removes that. Gtalk is nice as well and keeps me hooked up to the few outliers that use Andriod.

Email was a pain. My company is a bit weird security wise, so the only way to get email is to VPN into the network from a WinMo phone. BB allowed me to route emails to phone and back. Now I have an auto forward setup, but I can't reply back, but reading them was more important and still saves me tons of time.

Every thing else is so much better. The screen is really responsive and the size actually allows for less fat fingering then the S1 which is why I got that in the first place. Its nice to have an OS that actually runs things. I was really tired of half the programs being some browser based web portal. The actual programs are 100x more responsive, and the widget setup rivals just about everything. Only thing that may approach it is WP7 (which still might be my next phone because of Xbox and Zune connections). The worst part of BB was the shared memory/application store. I could only have about 15 programs installed and 2 non Rim programs running before it would start to choke.

The best part is where Android is and the room it has to grow. As a nerd its the most flexible, unrestricted OS out there, with the ability to do anything but BES/BIS email, and Google is just now really starting to tap into it.

The switch to Android will have a bit of a learning curve as mentioned previously. But after 2 weeks you will absolutely love your Android and for the most part never miss your BlackBerry.

Things I miss from my BB - BBM as mentioned earlier by others, notifications (especially LED), sorting of email and calendar.

I came from nearly 2 years of the Storm 9530, running the gamut of OS builds from 4.7.0.67 to 5.0.0.419. Then RIM turned its back in the 9530 crowd.

The Droid X simply thrashes the Storm and there is not once ounce of competition between the two. I was a Gmail user on the Storm and my Gmail experience did not change one bit coming over to the Droid. I was not big into BBM but G-talk filled the gap and ironically I use it more than BBM. The reason being that MORE people use G-talk and it has vastly more coverage than BBM which is strictly Blackberry oriented. Internet, do I even need to say this? Dolphin Browser screams and I actually use and have a real internet experience on my Droid X. Blackberry internet was a HOT MESS and for that reason I gave up trying to use it even for basic web access functions. Google Navigator.....WOW!! What I also love the most is the applications...thousands of them. I also love the ability to direct-connect talk using Tikl.

I don't miss my Blackberry. The ONLY thing it did better was have a louder volume. I should have made the move long ago...

Lol. If RIM doesn't get their a$$ in gear they are seriously gonna get left in the dust of Android and Apple devices.

Left my 8330 Curve last November for a Droid 1, waiting for my X to arrive. I don't miss my Blackberry at all.

Have to add my 2 cents ... Love the DX and totally blown away by its abilities and power. No comparison to any of the BBs and, for me, nothing is less with the X. Have no problems with email - I have Gmail collect my pop 3 accounts and email is pushed.

Impossible to even compare the best BBs with the X. You won't be sorry. AND, absolutely everything is customizable! The X becomes a career occupation.

I liked my S1. Very buiness focused. If you work for a company that uses the Exchange server, BB is for you. But, as a firefighter I find that android works best. in fact our entire command staff has android phones. By the way...LOVE the DX.

I wanted something with a better browser, the storm one browser sucked so bad, and more screen space, i went with the DX and like i said, i am starting to love this phone.

It is different, and i was a big bbm user, which i miss, but all this other stuff. Widgets, very speedy, and awesome screen, i just might stay android forever.

BB, RIM, your right, their gonna lose their butts if they don't get off it, and ill agree, the whole 9530 deal left a very sour taste in my mouth, stand behind your damn product for Gods sake.

I had the following Blackberry models: 8320, 8820, 8330, S1, 9000, 9630, S2, and finally the 9700. Can't say that I miss the BB platform at all. With the exception of the 2 original curve models I had, the others all had the same thing in common. They were VERY problematic. I went back to Verizon for the Droid X because I was beyond ready and willing to jump ship to Android. I've been enjoying this phone since day 1. A learning curve yes...but for me it seemed minimal. I don't claim to have mastered this device, but I have it running exactly the way I want it, and it hasn't given me any issues at all. Android is a platform I plan on sticking with for a long time yet.

I loved my x, but I had to switch back because the Verizon service was so bad. I hope att comes out with something like the x in the future.

I have been on this phone for nearly all day, its like a good show on tv you just can't get up to go use the bathroom, cause your gonna miss the details, I love this dang phone. Why didn't they have this when I bought my Storm 9530 two years ago? :D

I really miss surepress. Please bring back the clicking screen.

Thats one thing I cant get over

I really miss surepress. Please bring back the clicking screen.

That blasted clicking screen has ruined me, now that I have this DX, I constantly find myself pressing down on the screen, only to realize I don't need to click the screen anymore.

As bad as I hate to admit it, that clicking screen was helpful sometimes, but other times, it was a damn nightmare typing out emails, made my thumbs tired and sore.

Now that the new update has flash, I have re fallen in love with my dx, this is so awesome.
Reading on the crackberry blogs, seen where rim is releasing the 9570 storm, thought to myself after reading the specs on it, "rim just doesnt get it". Im so proud I went with a droid phone instead of waiting on the next storm devise, I would of been so disappointed.
