I have a 2006 passat 2.0 fsi. I was driving home and started going up a steep hill. The car felt like it didn't have power, but I did maintain speed around 60 mph, and the check engine light started blinking. The blinking stopped before I could find a place to stop. I noticed that the shuddering ceased when I was over about 1,800 RPM but would return when I dropped below that.

I got home and turned it off for a few minutes. I started it and the check engine light was blinking again, but again stopped after a minute or so. Shuddering still stops over 1800 RPM. I tried starting one more time and same thing. Reving over 2500 seemed to stop the blinking faster. Check engine light stays on after blinking stops.

I'm trying to decide if i should tow it to the shop or try driving it there. I've noticed other threads here with similar issue, but not where the shuddering stopped at higher RPM. I'm wondering if that difference is meaningful or if it's the coils which seems to be the first thought in the other threads.
