side volume buttons don't control notification volume

on my old droid phone these would control the volume on whatever app/program that was on the screen, i.e. messaging or stopwatch it controlled the notification volume, a video it controlled sound volume etc. I was wondering why my ultra doesn't do this. it sucks to have to open up the setting/volume just to change the notification volume, ringer and sound work as expected.

Try this app. It's called Simple Volume, and I've been using it on my Maxx.
