Yea... I get a graceful error message letting me know that it is not compatible with my version of OSX (which happens to be El Capitan also)...

So instead of hitting the "install anyway" button, I cancelled the installation... I'll wait for them to officially support El Capitan...

Yeah it worked before the update. Now waiting for sidesync to update

I got the same thing several times. Frustrating. I waited forever for it to finally be available for Mac, only for it to be available AFTER most of us would have upgraded to El Capitan.

It doesn't work properly in El Capitan. Due to SIP, it won't install. You can disable SIP and install, but once you re-enable SIP, it works horribly. Leaving SIP disabled is not recommended. (It doesn't run that well on El Capitan even with SIP left disabled.)

What you're left with is the software that opens and can't keep a Wifi or USB connection for longer than half a second. The relay to the phone from the computer is super laggy and slow. Side sync has always been a tad off in speed, but this time it's ridiculous.

Samsung has been notified of the issue, however, their tech support feels it's an Apple issue and not theirs. Who knows if it will ever be corrected.

As with most software things Samsung does, it's half assed, probably will never work as well as it does on Windows and I'm sure they'll drop support for it shortly. As we know from horrible software updates, broken features, all around not the best customer service in regards to supporting the products they make and sell....... I doubt anybody should expect much more from Samsung than that.

Not the same thing. AirDroid doesn't support screen mirroring of the Note 4 or 5 (non root) or taking your phone calls through the bluetooth on your computer as SideSync does. (It used to be Windows only on SideSync, now it is supposedly available on Mac.)

If one just wants to answer texts on the computer, there are tons of alternatives better than AirDroid for that. If one wants to see notifications on their computer.... they have smartphone addiction. :p

PS- New version of Sidesync is available on the Samsung site. It's two versions higher than the original 4.0 they uploaded. No clue if it works on El Capitan yet.

** Edit, broke down and installed it. It works. Still serious lag when using the SideSync Panel on the side and it drops Wifi so USB is better.

The feature to make phone calls from your Mac is now enabled and works tons better than when I tried a few weeks ago by disabling SIP on OS X El Capitan. That wasnt ready for primetime. That is a huge improvement. That was the only feature I was really looking forward to. Hopefully Samsung can get the lag eliminated when using the mouse with the app...... I'll assume in another five releases. LOL

It left an orphaned folder called USSUD in the user folder. Once I trashed that, I haven't had any disconnects on wifi anymore. (It contains a kext that on Yosemite would have gone into the startup items folder.) Not sure if it is coincidence or not. It still lagged, but then I set the keyboard for side sync in the phone app for Android to US Colemak. It works much better, still not on par with handoff, etc.... but it never will be.
