So I got curious and looked for any Black Friday deals and ran across their sales page.

So instead of offering the North American version that's somewhat useable here, they are selling the China Tencent version that's much lower spec'd and lacks any real U.S. network support. Plus, it's sold out. The cynic in me thinks they just added those listings just to increase page space and never intended to have a deal on it.

Whatever the case, this isn't just laughable. It's insulting.

Correction, the black Friday page is advertising the original ROG phone, not the current one. That's still a pretty sad offering for the U.S. market.

The main ROG 2 model number is the same across different versions I think, but you can tell the differences easily enough. The Tencent version intended for China only has the Tencent logo on the back, and only comes as 128 GB storage and 8 GB memory. The global versions are 512 GB storage (1 TB on the coming Ultimate Edition), and 12 GB of memory. The Asus U.S. store only sells the North American version. All of the Tencent versions sold in the U.S. are from unauthorized third party sellers.

I just received my ROGPHONE 2 12/512 today... Wierd thing about Asus is that they sell the 12/512 version online only and not in stores...

In stores only the 8/128 version is for sale.

Asus didn't just drop the ball. I'm wondering if they ever had the ball to begin with on this phone. I seem to remember that you aren't in the U.S, so hopefully it's fully functional for you.

Yes youre right. Im from Indonesia. And all the Official ROGphone 2 sold here is the non Tencent version. Im not sure about Asus USA but Asus Indonesia is total trash. They had so much ads showing the ROGphone 2 since October 2019 but they didnt start selling until END OF January 2020.

They rather provide the suitcase which includes the ROGphone 2 and all the accessories for useless Indonesian Gadget Reviewers instead of making sure consumers get to buy them.
