I'm a droid newb and convert from bb so please bear with me. I LOVE my new DX but I work in the mountains where I get litte to no signal. Does the DX search for signal while sleeping? My bb did so I installed an app to turn off the radio when the signal got below a certain point.
If it is searching, is there an app to help me?

it does search for a signal while the screen is off; that is actually a cdma trait, which is the network type verizon uses. i dont know if there are any apps that will disable the cell signal when it reaches a certain point, but you could always toss your x in airplane mode when you know youre in a bad service area if you dont want it to search for signal.

Isn't that a trait for all cell phone systems; not just CDMA? My old AT&T phone, I had a few years ago, also searched for towers continuously; thus the battery life when traveling was really bad due to no strong signals vs. remaining in an AT&T service area.
If a phone does not search for a tower signal, how will it ever know if there is a tower to connect too?
