Signal issue?

Hello everyone. Got a quick question for you. When I get done with whatever I am doing with my thunderbolt to save battery I hit the top button to cut the back light out. But when I pick it up and hit the top button again to wake it up there is no signal bars at all. Then the signal bars appear 5 to 10 seconds after its on. Is anybody elses doing this? Thanks.

Yes, I've seen it. Not all the time but seems too often to be a coincidence.

My phone doesn't take that long to show the bars but it does do the same thing. I've noticed it on all Android phones though and it seems to be normal. Doesn't the phone sit in an idle state with low signal when the screen is off to conserve battery and give us more signal when we need it? I know I've heard that before.
