Signal Strength Improvement?

Does anyone know if the S3 on Verizon's network will carry the same radio as the nexus on Verizon. Im only asking because I'm having a terrible time with my nexus, and come to find out Verizon's problem is with the switch from cdma over to wcdma LTE and the way my nexus is authenticating to the network I read it in a article and a verizon tech guy confirmed there was some issues.

Any help?

No it does not have the same radio.

Different radio and radio configuration all-together. In addition, Google spec'd the Nexus. The S3 is all Samsung (at least w/out the same Google intervention).

Thanks I was not sure I have been speaking with VZW about my issues and how its been ongoing for about 5 months with my nexus. They want to I feel down grade me into phones I never wanted in the first place. And I personally feel the specs are not as good. So in turn I'm asking once the pre orders and demand on the S3 cools down if there is any possibly to get into that phone. I really want my phone to work but if I don't get a update to fix my issue. I don't want a razr msxx, bionic, rezound.

Yeah, it might help. Unfortunately, at this time, there are no S3's in the wild for anyone to chime in about the signal strength. Let's cross our fingers and hope the radio performance is nowhere near comparable to the Nexus...

Good luck!

I agree with trying a signal booster from vzn before leaving att.

The article you refer to is probably this one..... Dear Verizon: Your 4G Phones Have Data Connectivity Problems, And It’s Really Pissing Everyone Off

I am hoping that something is better with the SGIII as well since I have had several Droid Charges which had data connectivity issues, a Droid Bionic with the same issues and now have a Galaxy Nexus with the same issues.

I have pre-ordered the SGIII and have all my appendages crossed.....:)

Are you going to pay for the SG3 since you said you pre ordered it? And what are you doing with your nexus? Are you selling it or sending back to VZW? Interested in knowing how your handling your ongoing problem with this?

I sold my Bionic (which Verizon gave me as a swap after a few Droid Charge's) on eBay for around $300 and then bought my Gnex on eBay for $350 in like new condition with no contract. I had an upgrade but was holding out until I found a 4G phone that didn't have a forum with several "data connection problem" threads. Verizon forced my hand with the unlimited thing so it was use it or lose it on the upgrade.

If I like the SGSIII, which I hope I do, I will either sell my Gnex or give it to my wife. If I don't like it I'll sell it on eBay and make a bit of profit.

If people can hold out a few months (obviously, i can't....) I'm betting the SGSIII will be around $350 on eBay. Paying $200 for the "upgrade" and then sales tax in California on the retail price of $650 or whatever it is the "upgrade" isn't much cheaper than buying it off contract anyway so I'll just horsetrade myself and they can keep their "upgrades" and I'll keep my unlimited data.

I have not read that article, I am aware of the things being said in there the article I'm speaking about is by android police as well here is the article

This Is Why Your Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Or Other 4G LTE VZW Phone) Is Losing Its Data Connection

Like I said its very similar

Yes, that article you linked to is the article I thought I was linking to....I believe every word. It's funny that in the article I linked to the guy was on my exact path...Droid Charge, Bionic, prob'ly got a Gnex after that....:)

Keeping everything crossed.....

Actually thats not true. my husband had a phone through verizon was never able to use in the house, always had to go outside, dropped calls etc. (dont remember the phone but I know it wasnt a smartphone), once he upgraded his phone the new phone worked perfectly fine in the house. so I believe the phone itself plays a big part.

2 weeks ago my husband bought a Galaxy S3 from Verizon. I had been using a Samsung Reality which actually got a decent signal in this dead zone. (I can ride south on the road that I live on for about a mile and get great service.) Now that we made the switch, signals are a thing of the past. I had certain spots in the house that I knew I could go to and get a decent signal. Now I can't. I just hold my breath and wish for a signal. That said, I will keep my GS3 because it is a better phone and will be helpful away from the house. And that is what I have it for anyway. I can get online with our Verizon wireless internet. So going to a newer, "more powerful" phone definitely decreased my signal.
