I am comparing my wife's new work phone an galaxy 3 to my razr maxx hd, I am checking the signal strength, is a lower dbi number better or is a higher one better?
So far the maxx hd has what I think are the better numbers.

The lower the number the better the signal.

Have done several tests so far the max hd is an average of 5 dbm better the best was 7dbm better and the worst was 4dbm. I am checking in the same place and holding the phone as I hold it while using it. So far it would appear that the moto has better radios. I will let you know how it goes.

It is pretty well accepted that moto devices have the best radios. Experiences with devices can vary for a number of reasons. Where I live, I've had a maxx, a rezound and a gs3. All 3 have had good signal and I live in a fringe area.

Rezound -105
Gs3. -110
Maxx. -114

These are averages. If the DNA had expandable memory I would have stayed with HTC.
