Signal strength

As I continue to learn about my new phone I am somewhat concerned about signal strength, at my house my old phone constantly had. -75 to-70db signal, it was a 4 year old blackberry torch.
With my new MotoX I am lucky to maintain -85 to -90 and occasionally I lose signal all together. Anyone else experience this or is there possibility something wrong with my phone

Depending on your carrier that can just be a result of different bands for 4G vs 3G. The Moto X holds a signal far better than any other Android phone I've owned. That is, except the Droid X.

Can you change the phones band ie 4g to 3g as the lack of 4g strength in my area could be the problem

The two Moto Xs I have had have poorer signal strength on AT&T than my GS4 and my IPhone (and most of the other phones I have had by 5 to 7 db. More disturbing to me is the time without signal. It always measures 10 to 14 percent or higher (on each Moto X) compared to the 0 to 2 percent I get on every other phone. I have tried erasing the phones and starting over and no change. It disturbs me greatly and I will probably be sending this one back too. I have asked Moto if they measure the "time without a signal" differently than the other manufacturers and cannot get a response.

Search LTE On/Off on the Play Store. When you open it, it'll tell you how to switch to 3G and back to 4G.

Just having my VZW Moto X for a little over a week, my signal remains right around -90dBm on 4G (VZW just turned it on). It goes down when I drive around town (rural area) and then back home it hovers mid 80s depending what room I'm in (mostly brick house). Signal retention in a brick building can be hard on phones. Motorola built in some really nice receiving radios in the X.

My Verizon Moto X does better than my fianc?'s iPhone 4S on the same carrier.

It's strange but I'm getting around -100 to -105dbm on my Moto X while I used to get around -90 to -95dbm on my S3 yet the call quality is a lot better on the Moto X. Haven't experienced any dropped calls or voices cutting out either.
