Signs of ad campaign?!?

So with the anticipation that online orders will be opening up this Thursday ahead of the anticipated Sept 8th launch next Thursday, I kind of thought we'd have been seeing more on the advertising front at this stage. Wasn't it rumored that commercials would start airing last Friday (26th)? I personally have yet to see one actually on TV or anywhere. No siting of that Natalie Portman wanna be fighting some "machine"......hell, I've even been waiting to see the Bionic show up in one of those "lightning strike" commercials where the 3 VZW employees are leaving for the night and rush back in after the lightning hits to check out the Galaxy Tab in one version, or the current lineup of 4G phones in another version..... Too much to ask for a cameo of the Bionic in one of those?!?!? LOL

I haven't seen any either, but I also DVR everything and fwd through commercials. I did see a tweet from Kellex @droid_life saying that he saw the promo before a movie at the theatre this weekend.

A few people I follow on twitter also said the same thing, that they saw a promo before a movie started.

I'll happily eat crow if it means replaceing my BB Storm 2 in less than two weeks. However, I'm going to bet that there will not be a Bionic for pre-sale in two days.

On another note. I just did a live chat with a Verizon rep. I asked about "and ad I saw at the movies and where I could get the phone" and I was told, "it will be out in Sept.". I replied, "as in 2 days from now?". She answered me by saying, "i should be out just after labor day".

So.....signs of life for NEXT Thursday, I dunno.

If accessories are arriving in stores I think the 8th is looking good. The one accessory I haven't seen yet is the extended battery. I hope they do an extended battery like the Droid X and Droid 3's that barely adds any thickness. Basically I'd like an extended battery that makes the back cover even with the hump.

I was thinking the same thing couple days ago. Normally I don't like extented batteries but if one was designed to make the back flat I might be interested. Only problem for me is if the car dock doesn't allow an extended batter then it would be worthless to me. I'm thinkin a spare would be good enough.

As far as I know Motorola usually makes their accessories accommodate extended batteries that come directly from them.

I went to a movie last weekend expexcting to see an ad (based on previous movie theater sightings). There wasn't one in the theater but when I went to get popcorn I saw one playing on the monitors.

I heard it was before "My Stupid Brother" but it could be a regional thing. Who knows, my neighbor across the street said she heard a commercial for it on the radio like last friday/saturday (26th/27th).

After labor day? That COULD mean next week, or two more, not very assuring. But it does give life to the idea of next thursday being the release date, and maybe we'll see a pre-order this week. Or maybe the pre-order will start next thursday...
My only problem is I want that Costco deal kind of at this point, and it said the 8th...so if they don't release the phone on the 8th, then we may never see that deal.
