I have been hanging out here for many months waiting to get rid of my BB Storm 1 which turns three years old this December.

Waited for the TBolt, which my daughter currently has, and got turned off by the lack of battery life.

Waited for the Droid Bionic which my son has, and waited and waited and decided to wait for the new iPhone announcement. Now that Apple laid an egg yesterday that option has been removed from my list.

Spoke to a good friend of mine who is one of the original Google employees in Manhattan and he said that his people are all waiting for the Nexus Prime - they consider this to be the bomb.

So and please forgive the ignorance,
Who makes it?
What will the battery life be like?
What are the biggest negatives about this device?

I know the announcement for Big Red is next Tuesday so i am really looking forward to seeing this thing up close and personal.

Thank you again for your time and insight in advance.

congratulations on having the storm for three years... I had one for about a year, and i made the jump to android... i didnt even look back..

1. Samsung/Google makes it

2. Ive heard that battery life is going to be like honeycomb, which ive never used personally, but i heard it was GREAT.

3. as far as biggest negatives go, i couldnt say... i dont know all of the specs.

Thank you for your reply, Saw 39 views and one response and have to extend to you a big thank you.

Being a relative newbie this whole thing is going to be a big learning process and a step of great faith leaving my reliable BB and BBM'ing.

Its looks as though this will be my next device and i hope that RIM offers a BBM app for the droid and the iPhone - that would be awesome and probably allow them to survive in the long run - of course if the government does not bail them out (Canadian company so the chances are far less there then here).

devices are made by samsung mobiles
Nexus devices are pure google android phones
means no touchwiz or motoblur or sense....
no bloatware of network related apps.. Android OS as google intended

the nexus devices are usually the first to recieve OS updates ....

it has a curved screen, many say it actually doesnt feel different and it feels great while holding it agains ur cheeks on calls.....

Honeycomb has great battery life because its on tablets with huge batteries. While I think the Nexus will have pretty good battery life I dont think it will be GREAT. Larger screen and LTE will take their toll.

To throw my $0.02 in ...

(1) Samsung does make it as already stated. And should be a great device IMO.

(2) For battery life, it's really an unknown. From what I've read, the battery life of LTE phones, in general, have not been great. However, it does seem that Droid Charge owners seem to have adequate battery life. I've also seen "good" battery life from Bionic owners. For me, I'm not expecting great battery life, but I'm hopeful for "good" battery life. If I can make it through the day without charging and with occasional LTE usage, then I'll be happy. We'll just have to see how this works out though.

(3) For negatives, it's very subjective. Some view the fact that Samsung is making it as a negative as they fear untimely updates and plastic housings. With it being a Nexus device, updates will happen quickly (quicker than any other); and there are rumors that the housing might be more metal than plastic. But, again, that's viewed as a negative by some, and a positive by others. The physical size is also seen by some as a negative (too big), and a positive by others. And there are other examples. Off the top of my head though, I can't think of any real negative that's not subjective.

I am really hoping the nexus prime comes to att because i hate all these att apps on my captivate that i dont EVER use! and pure google sounds like #winning to me :)

your welcome, your going to be amazed at the changes from a blackberry storm. I didnt have any issues with switching to my first android phone. i saw an article somewhere recently talking about BBM on android. i cant remember if they said it was deffinitely happening or they were just discussing it. anyways, enjoy the nexus prime, or whatever they call it... i know i will, i havent looked forward to a phone like this for a while.
