Hello all, I have been following this forum since the Charge forums opened, and have been equally as frustrated about the delay of the release of the phone. I decided to buy a Droid Charge from ebay, and after doing my research, and finding a reputable seller, I purchased one and it came via fedex this morning.

Upon opening the box I realized that it dod not come with a SIM card. I did a little more ebay Charge sales research and noticed that none of the Charge devices being sold currently are bundled with a SIM card.

So I called VZW and they said that they could have a Sim card to me by next Tuesday, but the quickest thing to do would be to go to my local corporate store and pick one up. So I asked the rep to note in my account that I called and the resolve was to pick one up from my local store.

Well, upon entering my local store, I explained that I had my own hardware device and all I needed was a SIM card, and they proceeded to explain that they have a very strict quantity of SIM cards that were all reflected by the number of 4g devices that they have. In other words they had no "extras" and had none to sell. I then got on the phone again with the VZW customer service rep and they explained to me that the $g sims card for the Thunderbolt were different from the ones for the Samsung, and that I am SOL until release day.

SO here I am, with the beautiful Charge sitting here, no chance of activation- and my fine Droid X is on its last leg by all meanings of the term.

Any suggestions? What a mess.

Verizons lte sims are all the same. Try another store. Tell them you activated whatever 3g phone you are using now and need a new sim activated to use your Thunderbolt. Seeing how the sims are a one time use I can't see them not having extras.

This. None of the 4g products like the Thunderbolt or Hotspots I order come with Sims and I have to order a card for each unit. I think its stupid. However they are all the same card. I have extra cards at my store but keep them in case of a defective card to replace. Or just have Customer Service send you one I guess. But they should have some extras in the store.

I find it hard to believe that their sim supplies are limited. When I ordered my thunderbolt I needed a new sim to activate it on my line. They have them in stock for customers who were doing an alternate upgrade.

Try another verizon maybe?

Just to follow up.... I took my charge into a local verizon "retailer." The guy at the counter had no idea what my phone even was. I asked him if they had any 4g sims for thunderbolts, and he said sure. He went thru the activation process with my phone and all is well. No hiccups whatsoever.

4g speeds are fast, phone has great call quality, great screen, and seems to be just as fast as my Droid X running gingerbread.

Happy for now......

Nice. Glad it worked out. Sometimes a local retailer can be much friendlier and easier to deal with. Less BS policies.

Different sim ...a no.. How do they hire these people ? They have no clue on what they sell ...kinda like car salesman. Its a shame.

Its pretty clear to me that reps don't want to issue a SIM if they aren't selling a phone. They want the commission, I get it, but their JOB is taking care of the customer. Its sales 101, take care of them, they will have a reason to come back to you.
