Hi AndroidCentral,

i'm a proud HTC Hero user for quite a while now and everything has been running smooth since the start; until now.

I'm switching to a new phone company, which means a new sim card. And now i want to backup all of the data that is on the sim card to my phone. The most crucial data are all the phone numbers, i don't really know what else is on the sim card though :s

I've searched the net, but most people just want to do the opposite: backup from phone to SIM, so i don't really know what to do right now or what program to use or...

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the Hero specifically but I seriously doubt that it stores anything on the SIM card. Most smartphones don't since the SIM phonebook is extremely limited in capacity and what data it can hold (typically only one name and one number per contact).

Aren't your contacts already synced?

I see in my phonebook that a quite a few contact are still saved on my SIM card. I need an easy way now to transfer them to my phone, otherwise i'll loose them when changing SIM cards.

I checked the synchronization settings and syncing with google is enabled, but i don't know exactly where it is synced to and if it syncs all my contacts (phone, sim, google) or just the ones with label google..

Thanks in advance for your help.
