Simple Mobile and Mytouch 4g

My wife was recently deployed so we cancelled the mytouch 4g on tmo and they waved the $200 cancel. fee.

I have been reading on xda that several people use simple mobile with tmo phones, and their webpage says this phone is SUPPORTED. I called a local dealer today and was told that I did not have to UNLOCK the phone because its running on tmo when its on simple mobile.

He said people are NOT throttled unless they are tethering or downloading torrents/movies.

Do any of you use simple mobile? Specifically, do you use a mytouch 4g on simple mobile and would you recommend it. My understanding its rebranded tmo service.

I loved the mytouch 4g, but couldnt stomach the $83 a month. My current phone is a optimus v (sprint aka virgin for $60 a month unlimited everything) but why would I want to use this phone (which I can return as Ive had it less than 10 days, I have 30 days to return) when I have a 10x better phone my mytouch 4g... I can get the SAME DEAL on simple mobile, $60 for unlimited everything and NO CONTRACT!

Suggestions... comments? Complaints about simple mobile? Thanks!

Then I would say 128 people don't know the answer to your question.

If I knew I would tell you (and am kinda curious myself honestly).

I know one disadvantage is that you probably won't have any roaming agreements, so if you're in an area that doesn't have T-Mobile coverage you just won't get service. Same thing you have to deal with on Virgin (no Sprint coverage no service) so check the coverage before you decide to go that route and make sure it'll work where you go.

TMO works fine where I live, and my phone was activated on simple mobile and Im getting the same 4g speeds..... very happy... could care less about mms problems some people are having, as I dont send mms messages.... thanks for the reply

For all those reading this thread, simple mobile, well... Simply ROCKS! Phone works great, coverage is great, and 4g speeds are consistent and FAST!

Well here's a followup post, simple mobile is still working great on my HTC Mytouch 4g, speeds are consistently 3+Mbps Down and 1.5 Mbps up...

Did you try tethering? Their FAQs say they don't allow it.
I'm wondering what will happen with them after the "Merger". They are using T-mobile's network, right?

I don't know about tethering cause I hardly ever do it... I use my phone mostly on wifi when at home or Starbucks...

4g works great and is super fast!!!

Okay I'm very interested in this. So I don't have to unlock the phone to have it working on this service right? Cause I want a MT4G (preferebly used for 200 or under) and was looking into T-Mo's prepaid but this sounds better

You have to change the APN but other than that any T-Mobile phone will work on Simple Mobile and get full speed(whether that be 4G or 3G). On the tethering part, I have when I was using my myTouch 4G. But I didn't do it for more than 10 minutes.
