Just got the S5. Every app I download has its icon placed randomly on one of the homescreen pages. How Do I set it that it just shows in the app folder and I can place what I want on the actual screens

Just press and hold the icon, it will then let you move it where you want to move it.

Oh, sorry for not explaining myself. I know how to move or delete it, I just would rather it not show up on the homescreen in the first place. I thought there was an option to disable this from automatically happening.

Uncheck "add icon to home screen" in the Settings in the Play Store.

All downloaded apps try to go to your Main Home Screen.

If that screen is full, then they will flow over to the next available screen.

I keep a vacant spot on my Main Home screen just for this. that way, I know where the new app's shortcut is. Then I move it to a folder in the appropriate screen.

Folders are great, lots better than having a slew of screens to look at.
Easier to put things into similar categories.
