Simultaneous voice & data: do you really care?

Is simultaneous voice & data really that important to you?

No I do not. I can count on one hand how many time I've don't it with my Droid using WiFi. Nice feature but I've gone this long without it so no I don't really care.

Personally, I've had every iteration of iPhone. I even shelled out 600$ for the original one. I have never given a flying foul about data at the same time while talking.

1. I don't really talk much on the phone

2. I spend a good 90% of my time in wifi

That being said I remember using it ONCE when I was talking to my brother on the phone and I had to look something up real quick and thinking "GORSH, I can talk on the phone AND use internet!! COOL!", but I still really don't care.

I can see how a sling player might change my mind. Also, depending on what kind of girlfriend one has, it may be a problem. These two issues are easily resolved by point 2. I made previously.

It is absolutely a must for me in my case. There are multiple occasions where i will have to be on a conference call on the phone and logged into a server fixing it from my phone while out and about. I do this ALL the time on my Iphone and it works flawlessly. I guess my other option is to just get a iphone upgrade to 4th gen and still get the EVO as well.

I'd also like to add that it is amazing to be able to tether for a laptop while on the road and talk on the phone at the same time. Once you have the ability to do voice and data at the same time and you take advantage of it, not having it is like going back to the stone age.

Holsum,

That is a great point. Hopefully 4G will roll out in my area soon. (Central Florida).

I'd use it to check traffic. Many times I've been on the phone with my wife and I have to hang up to check on traffic and then call her back. No jokes about that being a benefit. :D

YES!! The tethering of the Palm Pre Plus is amazing...until you receive a call. You can't tether and talk at the same time and I can see this being especially important for businesses.

Tethering is the make or break deal on this... I want to sit anywhere I please and have my phone in my pocket while I crunch away on my laptop. If the phone rings, I don't even want to have to think about the fact that the phone is providing my wifi... if it can do that I'm good. If I can't then I'm always going to want to be on a "real" hotspot so I can talk and work or whatever... tethering a la the Pre is still way better than nothing, but doing both at once is the ultimate.

Is it confirmed that the Evo allows talk and data simultaneously or is that just a "best guess" at this point?
