Single swipe to access quick settings?

Is there any way to make it so I can access the quick settings with a single thumb swipe from the top of my screen? I know a two finger swipe will do it, but I use my phone with one hand. Having to bring down the notification shade then swipe down again for quick settings is getting annoying. I want it to work like it does from the lock screen.

One way you can do that with NOVA's gestures feature. Clearly that is something that requires using a launcher, and is not part of the OS. But I just mention it as an option for now.

Swipe down with two fingers instead of one. Is that what you are looking for?

Although this is not the exact solution you were looking for, have you considered adding a settings widget to your home screen. You can use the standard one or Power Toggles (which has many more features and a much better design including transparency).

I don't think there is a way to achieve this without changing the launcher. Rather, it might be best to do what's suggested above, or to install an app that sticks widgets in the notification shade.

If you are on the Nexus 5 and willing to try a custom ROM, Cataclysm has that feature. You can configure it so that a simple, single-finger swipe down will bring Quick Toggles down instead of the notifications. You can take a step further and set it up so the swipe down from the left (or right) edge will do that while swiping down from the other parts will continue to bring down the notification. I realize it's probably much more than what you want to do, but just another option for you.
