Sky map and compass

Just opened it and for the first time ever (5, 6p and 2xl)i haven't had to calibrate the compass before use.
Anyone else noticed this?
About time they updated the icon for it though.

No, you can still uncalibrate it. Just leave the phone sitting on a narrow piece of ferrous metal (like an iron or steel pipe) aimed east-west for a minute, and it should need recalibration. (The software can't change how a Hall-effect sensor works.)

My point is no matter what I've always had to calibrate before use. Every single time. Since the update I haven't
