Hi everyone. :)

When people call me from their Skype my Skype is not notifying me at all. Its not ringing. However it does notify me that I have missed a call.

Has anyone else had this problem? How can I fix this?

Many thanks. :)

Device? Software?
Perhaps you need to go through your notification settings to ensure they are on for Skype...

Moved from the Android Apps forum to the Skype forum.

Hi.

Thanks for your post. :)

I'm sorry... I should know better. Galaxy S8, Android 7, Skype version.... the new horrible one (8.5.0 56085).

Notifications both in Skype settings and phone settings are all enabled.

Any power-saving modes turned on? Is Skype "battery-optimized"? If so, turn off the optimization.

No.. no power saving modes are enabled nor battery optimisation for Skype.

What I find strange is that it will notify me that I have missed a call but not notify me at the time when the person is actually calling me.

This probably doesn't matter either, but make sure Restrict Background Data isn't turned on for Skype (in Settings>Data Usage).

I've read that Skype will only ring on the device that your active on. Skype finally fixes annoying multi-device notifications | Trusted Reviews

I have Skype on my computer too. I booted my computer and asked my mother to call me and Skype did ring on my computer. She then called my mobile and it didn't ring or display any notification whatsoever until she hung up. Then immediately it showed that I had missed a call. I checked to see which other devices I might be signed in on by using the command /showplaces and it was just my phone and computer. So I signed out of Skype on my computer and then got my mother to call me again. Skype still didn't ring on my phone... only notified me that I missed a call.

I think Skype still thinks I'm logged in on my computer when I'm not.

With regards to Skype changing it so that it only rings on the device your active on (as described in the link I've posted) I think there should be an option where you can choose which devices will or will not ring when your called. Instead of Skype deciding. It's typical bloody Microsoft assuming what we want instead of giving us the option to choose.

I've uninstalled Skype from my computer which was the only other device I had it installed on and STILL it wont ring when someone calls me. It's soooo very frustrating. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!! :( :(

BTW... I tried the /showplaces command in Skype on my phone but it comes back with 'unknown command'. Does that command only work on a PC? Thx

OMG!!!! You know sometimes you think too deeply into something and you miss the obvious??? Yes, well..... my mother and I both got our phones within a day of each other. I set them both up. We have static IP addresses on our network and I had stupidly set the same IP address for both phones without realising!!! Something easy to do but getting it wrong can have disastrous consequences as I've just proved.

I'm sorry for wasting your time. Thanks again for trying to help.

LOL, glad you figured it out! Thanks for letting us know what the problem was.

I have the same problem. Skype on my phone does not ring, it only shows "missed call" afterwards. I have the same problem on 4 phones (not at the same time) It works sometime, but most of the time not. No battery saver mode active. Reinstalled countless times, cleared cache and data, no luck. Also, not the problem of same IP addess like above, phone has it's own 4G connection.
