Slacker Radio and Galaxy S III

I use Slacker Radio because of the cache feature. I fly often, and usually listen to cached stations with my Bose headset in airplane mode. The problem I am having is that when the screen is off and a song finishes, it will not start the next one. The second I hit the power button it will immediately start playing the next song, even before I unlock the screen. I upgraded from a Thunderbolt, and did not have this problem on that phone. I could just leave the screen on, but during a 4 hour flight the battery would be toast. On the Tbolt with the screen off, I would usually kill 2-3% of the battery listening to music for 3-4 hours. So does anyone know of a setting I may need to change? Is this a Slacker issue, or a Galaxy issue? Thanks

It might be a slacker issue. I have the subscription but usually just stream instead of using the cache.

I am going to cache a station really quick and try.. I'll post back.

Okay I cached a station and played it with my wifi and cell network intact and it played the next song with the phone locked without any issues.

I then closed the app and put it in airplane mode. I opened the app and it went to my cached station since no network. It played the first song but when it was time for the next one the song wouldn't play until I unlocked and/or just turned the screen on... Just like you stated OP.

It seems to be the slacker app messing up since it works with a data connection but when in airplane it doesn't go over until the phone unlocks. I would suggest contacting slacker to see if they know about the problem and can maybe help.. Or at least know to fix it in an update because I do know in my s2 I tried the cache station once and it worked so.. Some things wrong with it on the s3.

UPDATE
Slacker emailed me and told me to uninstall and wipe it off of my SD card. I did that, but it still is experiencing the same problem. I emailed them to let them know that it was still not solved. I am guessing it is a software issue. Hopefully they come out with a fix soon as leaving my screen on for a 4 hour flight will leave me with no battery upon landing.

Hopefully they can help. Link them to this forum and let them read my post. It will pin point the issue to them so they can test for themselves and not give you the generic troubleshooting :)

Re: Slacker Radio and Galaxy S3

I am having the same issue. Just spent some time over the weekend narrowing it down after having an issue at the gym. I was listening to slacker while working out and had the phone in my pocket. Of course the screen was powered off while in my pocket and the music would stop as soon as the song was over. Sometimes the next track would start playing after 30-60 secs, other times I would have to press the home button or unlock and then the next track would start playing immediately. Additionally, if I have the unit plugged in (i.e. in the car) the screen is always on and Slacker has no issues. however, leaving it plugged in and screen on is not practical most of the time so this is a big issue for me. I am checking out some other programs to see what else is out there. PS. This issue occurs even when "airplane" mode is off or on.

At least your able to cache stations...

I'm unable to, mind you I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it's kind of annoying considering I can't use it when needed ...

I went a head and reinstalled it and i'm getting the same thing happening to me, song will finish, and wont go to the next one ...

This sounds exactly the same as a problem documented on a Slacker FAQ which says the following. However, to the best of my knowledge, ICS does not have a “Auto End List” option.

"My Slacker Radio Application shuts down about 2 minutes after the screen on the phone turns off?" If you have a Motorola phone with the application "Task Manager" (such as the Droid X2) then you will want to check the "Auto End List" to make sure that the Slacker Radio application did not end up on the end list. Any applications that are added to the Auto End List will be ended 2 minutes after the screen goes off.

Re: Slacker Radio and Galaxy S3

So there has been no update to slacker radio yet, however about 4 days ago it started working normally and my screen off problem went away. Not sure what to chalk it up to? Anyone else still having the problem, or did it just fix itself?

I cached 5 stations on my galaxy 3s and when I play a station it only plays 14 sec of a song then stops and wont start again. Each of the 5 stations did the same thing. Anyone have this issue? Also the cached stations seemed to disappear and reappear, not sure whats happening.

Re: Slacker Radio and Galaxy S3

I'm having an issue with the Slacker app too.

My problem is that the app is accessing my battery even though the app itself is not running.

In other words, I have cleared out my multitaking and task manager and then the Slacker app will still be accessing the battery (fairly heavily).
