Originally got this phone to replace an overworked Motorola Moto X pure addition.
While the phone is sleek, and speedy, with a beautiful display, and a very high quality ceramic back, it has utterly failed in the one area I needed most, which is to be able to activate it hands-free while I drive. The command "okay Google" will not wake the phone up if it it is on the lock screen, and when I do unlock the phone manually with both fingerprint and pin code, even then the "okay Google"will not take a photo when I tell it to. It will open the camera app, but once again, I have to finish it manually.
The inability to activate it when the screen is locked using a voice command, also means I can't check my messages, make phone calls, or do anything hands-free.
Lastly, there are no options to customize the wake up phrase, a function found on many phones as old as five years.

It's like they took a step forward and three steps back with this model, and as I type this I want to smash it on the table top with a hammer.

I am told that there may be some way to fix this with a custom ROM, after I flash TWRP and some Kernel, a process I haven't done in over five years, and I'm willing to try it. But basically for anyone to call this phone a "daily driver" is ridiculous, since the Google apps integration simply does not let you operate this phone hands-free.
I have been on every forum, and in every room, and on four separate sites looking for a solution. If anybody has any real suggestions other than sending this phone back and getting another one, please let me know.
Thanks.

Does your car have Bluetooth? If so, you can set up your phone to unlock when connected to your car. You have to be connected to the car, then go to Settings, Lock screen and password, Advanced settings, Unlock with Bluetooth device, turn on the Unlock device toggle, and select your car's Bluetooth connection. As to being able to change the OK Google prompt, I'm pretty sure that it was only Motorola phones that allowed you to use a different phrase. I miss that too.
