Slimport questions

So I finally figured out that the phone connects to slimport and not mhl.

My question is can I use a micro-usb with it?

I still have that from my Razr Maxx and would love to get some use still but not sure if It's compatible.

I don't know much about the cable but do know like hdmi, don't have to pay much.

Is this relevant to what you're asking, at the end of the article? If so, it seems you'll need one or two accessories.
