So I am wondering if anyone knows why Slingbox cant seem to use the ENTIRE 4.65in screen. I paid $30 for an app that hasnt been updated in two years (give or take, I could be a bit off). Anyone know if there is an update coming to fix this? Maybe an update to improve stream quality now that there are many more 4G and dual core phone available. Its really criminal to charge a few hundred for the box and then $30 for an app that only works on phones. Then if you want to watch on a tablet you get to pay another $30. For that kind of money I should be getting bug fixes and patches weekly. And yes, I know its a big difference in screen resolution and quality and pixel density and... but for $30 you should get both, or at least a discount on the second. So I have turned this into a rant.

Anyone know anything about SlingPlayers and getting to use my whole 4.65'' screen? One major reason I bought this phone was for that exact purpose, sad its still not available.

Turning on "aspect" and "zoom" will make it fill the entire screen except for the back, home, and window icons. I wish those would time out and disappear but they don't.

I'll contact the guys at Echostar and ask them about it. I am thankful that the Dish sling works with my 722. When I had the Rezound it didn't work, very annoying since all the Apple fanboys had ammo to fire at me.

I agree. Support for the app needs to be better, but it generally works as advertised. I've used it with a Droid, Droid X, Thunderbolt, and now the Galaxy Nexus.

I'm surprised Google hasn't snapped Sling up and incorporated it into Google TV. Seems like a no-brainer feature add.

I know about the aspect and zoom, but you actually get a bit of the picture cut off when you zoom, so having the soft keys or dock keys (whatever they are called) disappear would be a really nice feature.

Don't get me wrong, I love the app and it works very well, but for $30 plus the box they should employ an army of programmers to work on improvements. In fact I'm not sure, other than support for certain browsers on Macs running Snow Leopard that I have seen a single update or enhancement for any sling product and I've owned mine for almost 3 years.

I totally understand and agree with the lack of support. I bet I could count one one hand how many times its been upgraded. 1 update every 2 years maybe?

Let me see if I can explain my personal reasoning for making it easier for me to accept its failure to utilize its the entire 4.65" screen. By turning on aspect ratio its making it16:9 ratio instead of 4:3. (No brainer there.) The 16:9 ratio does maximize the width of the screen if you can accept the home keys never disappearing, but it leaves room at both the top and bottom of the screen. By selecting zoom it fills that empty space by clipping the left and right ends but maximizes the vertical screen availability. While not ideal I prefer this because I'm sacrificing the larger portion of the aspect ratio (16) to utilize all of the smaller portion of the aspect ratio (9). The aspect ratio ends up being more of a 15:9 in the end but I'm OK with that cause at least it maximizes all of the 4.65", but you do have to accept the home icons never disappearing.

I've used slingbox for a while now. I added it through round about ways onto my Xoom, before they had optimized it for Honeycomb. I do not use the Xoom, because I do not like having parts of the picture cut off. I prefer to use aspect. As for the home keys dots being visible, that too doesn't bother me. At least for me, it doesn't negatively impact my viewing experience.

OK, fair enough, it still works great, but it annoys me that they don't even bother. sling looks great on this screen, but it could be better.
