Slow charging & keep awake...

I have a Note5 via AT&T. Am on home WiFi 90% of the time. For the last week or 2, my battery has been draining at a crazy fast pace!! Even if it's plugged in to the OEM charger, it can barely maintain the charge!! I might gain 5% after an hour of plug-in - with the screen off. I slowly lose % if I'm using it while charging (like now).

The battery stats show both the Android OS & System are keeping it awake (mostly OS). I have searched & searched forums and Google looking for answers, but most battery/keep awake threads are 10+ pages long, with full conversations happening... and not a lot of "this should help" info. At least, not for someone who's too chicken to root.

Are there any helpful suggestions to fix this darned thing?? It's about to go thru a window.....

Thanks.
Cathy

You might try wiping the cache partition. Power off the phone. Press and hold the volume up, home, and power button until the phone turns on then release. When the options appear, scroll down using volume keys to the wipe partition cache option and select it using power key. Then use power key to select reboot and see if this helps. If it doesn't, you may need to try a factory reset.
