Slow Charging

This has to be the slowest charging phone I have ever had. It takes nearly 5 hours to charge my phone from empty using the same charger that charged my Hero (1500 Mah battery as well) in about 1.5 hrs. Does anyone else have this issue?

Well unless you're pulling all nighters, I don't see the problem. I just leave my phone charging at night so it's ready in the morning. Sure it charges slow, but what do you want from a free phone?

The slower the charge the better the quality charge your getting. I agree it's kind of a pain to wait for it but we get better battery than most phones with a 1500mah battery.

My touch pro on certain roms had a fast charge app...would charge it 2x faster...anything like that on the market?

I had touch pro 1 and touch pro 2. Yes there was hack for windows mobile phones that enable FAST CHARGE for usb -> computer charging. I haven't seen any hack for android yet.

Another source of the problem is the factory charger is only 700 mA charging rate. We are probably use to the 1000 mA charging rate.

I just ordered car charger with 1000 mA rate.

I also read slow charge increase battery life. But I rather have the 1000 mA charging rate.

Because sometimes I only get 3-4 hours of sleep and it only gets up to 70%. Also when I put it on the car charger for my 1.5 hour drive home i would like to see it go up higher than 15-19%. I use my phone a lot to download howard stern etc I can drain it in 5 hours doing that and other stuff.

I thoght the same thing about the chargers output being too little Mah. But I'm using my Hero's charger base which charged my phone ih about 1.5 hours. I think LG phones are notorious of slow charging. Either way I bought 2 batteries and a wall charger off E-bay. I'll just have to have one charged in my wallet so if I ever need it.

Charging

How Long does it take usually to charge your battery to full from 15%? My battery life is great but I am curious if it takes you guys just as long to charge 5-6 hours for a full battery. Many thanks

im coming from a blackberry curve to my first android phone. my blackberry had really poor battery life, dying in the middle of the day at work was very inconvenient, i had to bring a charger to work. when i got my optimus, the first thing i noticed was how long it took to charge it. i was expecting less than or equal battery life to my bb, but even overclocked to 825 i pretty much last all day, and that is with listening to music through speakers and/or headphones for about 2 hours of the day. of course, i turn my wifi and gps off when im not using it, but i always had the wifi turned off on my bb too. if long charge times=longer battery life, im willing to make that trade-in. if you ABSOLUTELY cannot charge your battery during the night, theres always the option of getting a spare battery to just swap out when your old one dies.

I have the same issue with my optimus s. Any way to improve the charge time?

It takes the phone 4 hours to go from 10% to 100% using the supplied charger. This is when the phone is turned off.
Using the microusb cable with the windows xp with the LG driver installed it charges 2% per 30 mins (with phone on).
Surprisingly using the same mirco usb cable and a car charger for iphone (with usb out) that i bought from meritline it charges up pretty fast.

I'm curious if you are charging through a computer or using the a/c adapter?

My Optimus S charges within 2-3 hours fully drained on a/c but takes twice as long when connected via usb.

I just started charging through the USB connected to my laptop. It does take a long time. Can't say exactly how long, just long....

Yeah mine takes about 2 to 3 hours tops to charge from about 10%. With the computer it is considerably longer though.

Resolved my slow charging issue

Charging time w/OEM charger is average at best. If left plugged in after battery reaches 100% (e.g. overnight) the battery drops rapidly the first hour or so once unplugged. Though not ideal, I assumed there was no other option.

To avoid carting the charger around I decided to buy a couple more...a second OEM identical to the one it came with and a BlackBerry one that folds the plug flat for easy travel. Charge time is MUCH QUICKER w/the BB which surprised me given the output is 5.1V 0.7A on the OEM & 5.0V 0.7A on BB. AND the bb charger overnight my battery does NOT drop rapidly during the first hour once unplugged either...which tells me it delivers some sort of a trickle charge to keep the battery topped off at 100%. You would expect the OEM would do this but it doesn't. Needless to say I returned the LG and ordered another BB charger!

The charging is slow for me too, I have a charger from my Hero (1A) and it makes no difference, same time as the .7A from LG ~ 5 hr charge.

Last night the phone charged at an even lower rate, 11pm to 7am it went from 24% to 46% on the OEM charger. I rebooted, changed chargers but it is still charging slowly, I will try to wipe Battery Stats to see if that helps.

I had the same issue. I have installed SuperPower (Free Beta 0.75). It solved the battery woes. But i had to play around with the settings to get the network to play nice. It doesnt play nice with the applications that require internet in the background but i would make that compromise to get usable battery life on the phone.

I do not have a problem with battery life, the phone lasts about 14 hours for me with everything on and syncing. I am not running any battery saving apps. The issue is the charging rate and in my case something is even more out of whack. It just started happening yesterday.

very Slow charge

Just got a refurbished optimus s and put thunderom w/ the oc kernel on it. the problem is whenever I plug it on to charge it takes way too long. Like at least 10 minutes for a percent. I know back when I had my moment if Iwas low on charge and in a hurry I could just charge out for a good 4 minutes and I'd get a considerable amount of charge. I can't say exactly but it puts this phone to shame.

how should I go about solving this?
Sorry for poor spelling posting from phone

For me it seems like the phone likes to charge itself at around 428mA, whether it is plugged into the AC adapter or the USB port on the computer.
