Slow play store download speed

So this has been going on for a while on my s8+. I can't get over 2mbs when downloading on play store. My internet is 250mb/s down and I have checked my connection and it doesn't have any problems. For some reason only the play store app is downloading very slow. When I update games it's downloading at full speed. I have reset my play store but it hasn't solved the issue. Anyone else have this problem? What can I do to solve it?

Welcome to Android Central! You mentioned that when you update games, it downloads at full speed -- are you talking about updating the games through the Play Store? Or are you talking about the games refreshing their data on their own? I'm just trying to clarify if everything on the Play Store downloads slowly, or only certain things.

Download speeds depend not only on your local network, but also the server you're accessing. Do other devices connected to the same wi-fi network also have similar download speeds from Google Play?

I tried downloading something on my old android just now and it was faster then the s8, connected to the same wifi too

What wifi? Don't nee to know only that there have been needed changes, firmware updates, and not all routers support newer protocols. Plus the 2.4 and 5GHz and whether using auto or specific channels.

I put AP access point "extensions" in the house to cover dead zones or where signal wasn't as good. Im surrounded by a number of other wireless devices it seems o my block.

Oh, Netflix is acting up today. There seems to be something afoot with broadband carriers. I had a lot of trouble for 2 hours with Play Store yesterday, and my router showed a huge spike in both down and upload during that period.

It's hitting me tonight. WiFi won't work on GPS. Everything else is fine. I can download from GP S on cellular.
Netflix is crapping out as well.

Update, Dec. 19, 11:30 a.m: The outage maps on Downdetctor.com suggest that users of the backbone internet providers Level 3 and Cogent may still be suffering from slow connections in across major U.S. cities. According to the Internet Traffic Report, major metropolitan areas across the U.S. are suffering from slow traffic and response rates.

"This slowdown is also a reminder of what kind of internet we may well have once the new Federal Communications Commission rules axing network neutrality protections hit the books: They’ll allow internet providers to legally block or throttle access to websites, "

#NetNeutrality protest over FCC? Or taste if things that could be our future? Or State actors?

I know this is an old post but just found it as I'm having the same problem and wanted to know if there was a fix and seeing as no one has answered your question, I will...

Its Samsung Galaxy phones that are the problem, my S8+ phones, S7 Edge and S6 and Note8 are the only ones having this problem and from looking on forums, it seems to be a very common problem with the Galaxy line.

Just to confirm I have had this problem on all the latest stock OS's and have even factory reset countless times to try an fix it, currently on the latest Oreo update on the S8+ and it's still got the problem but my Google Pixel 2XL, HTC U11 and even an old Lenovo Zuk Z2 Pro from 2016 that had to have Google play apps/services side-loaded (as doesn't come with them as stock) doesn't have this problem and its infuriating...

Thanks Samsung, due to this, your slow pushing of updates (something even the Zuk released Oreo before you an they are problem 1/1000th of your size) and your now minimal improvements to your next gen phones and your price battle with the idiots at Apple I will be switching to HTC or Google as my only phones from now on...

Just to clarify on my Galaxy phones the download is pretty much instant on my EE mobile network (60Mbps down 20Mbps up) in the UK but as soon as you switch to WiFi it crawls, be it 300Mbps download and 20Mbps uploads over 5Ghz network, be it 2Ghz or even Ethernet (using either the DEZ Dock Ethernet or a Ethernet adapter and a OTG connector (speeds tested using countless speed test sites and apps, all providing my true speeds on everything else) , it just crawls but doesn't on my 2XL or U11 on them it's rapid be it on WiFi or data..

Not sure is this is still a problem: I disabled WMM and change connection encryption to AES only on WPA-Personal.

Now I have fast download from google store again.

Samsung has had problems with TKIP in the past - it's not surprising that they still do.
