Hi all.

I have just upgraded to a 4k Chromecast, from an HD model.

I noticed slow wifi speeds on the old one, but the newer one seems to do the same thing...

I have a 50Mbs line and the max speed is between 5 and 10 on the Chromecast, but full 50 on all other devices. Which is too low for 4k streaming and steamlink gaming.

It seems to have been a problem for years now. Any solutions yet? Maybe a specific port on the router or something? I am also running at 2,4gHz. And I have done a factory reset after firmware updates...

Have you tried moving the router closer to the Chromecast? Or changing the WiFi channel to a less noisy one? I'd check QoS settings on your router to make sure traffic to Chromecast is being prioritized (usually just turning QoS off is an easier altogether fix). Some people also recommend turning IPv6 off on your router.

Thanks. I'll try that.
The router is not even 1m away. But I'll definitely try your other suggestions...

You'd be surprised at how much of a difference moving the router or even cables around the Chromecast can do when there's interference (remember, the frequency used by those WiFi channels are the same as Bluetooth, Wireless remotes, microwaves, smart speakers, etc.). Also TVs can act as 'shields' so moving your router a bit or the Chromecast receiver can also help on the device getting a better signal.
