sluggish buttons on captativate

I purchased a second hand samsung captivate, it looks good and works mostly , the front capacative buttons are sluggish any ideas on how to fix this, it has been updated to gingerbread, I looked for answers but came up emtpy sorry if this has been answered already. thanks

My guess is that there's a process or two running in the background that is slowing the response. If you do a reset does it still behave that way? (This will remove all your apps and data so backup first!) Do you have a lot of apps installed?

Sorry, since the low ram on the captivate it is unable to process as fast as its predicessor the s2. Also because the phone was not programed to run on gingerbread, its sluggish
