So yesterday, pulling my LG G5 out of my pocket it got all hung up on my shirt and ninja reflex wasn't fast enough to avoid the drop. But it landed on my shoe (ninja kick) and softened the blow. But leaving it's marks as a memory. 2 big clips on the back. And a cracked screen protector. I dropped my Nexus 5 over a hundred times and ever got this big of a chip. The ba k paint?? Chipped showing a whitish color plastic underneath.. Kinda upset at how easily this phone chipped..

Sorry to hear that. I got a skin for this very reason, as I imagine the paint does scuff easily. I actually think its really sad that consumer/reviewer demand has made phone makers go for less practical casings on their phones. The rubbery material of the Nexus 5 was brilliant to hold, and absorbed drops really well. I'd have another phone made of that stuff over glass or metal, painted or otherwise any day. Nowadays phone makers can't do it, you'll just have reviewers describe it as cheap, not premium, plasticky, rubbery etc. And don't get me started on curved screens. The N5, the casing was every so slightly raised around the screen, so it hit the ground first, and not the glass. I honestly think the Nexus 5 will go down as one of the best i've ever had for its time. Almost pips the Nokia 7110 (But not quite, pretending to be in The Matrix asking Tank for an exit, never got old :-) )

Any of these high end phones need protection of some kind. I don't bother with screen protectors anymore and my last phone I stopped using the case because it had a Kevlar back and it was very durable. You can thank Apple for the trend to go metal and glass. As for the G5, I understand why they went with the finish, but putting a case on it makes the finish sort of irrelevant. I like the way it looks and feels without a case, but I've already dropped it a few times and I am glad was covered.
